From Part Design to a Production-Ready Mold

Step 1

Part Review and Quotation

Provide your part design, CAD files, material requirements, estimated volumes, and quality specifications. We review the project and generally quote both the customer-owned mold and estimated per-part production pricing.

Step 2

DFM Review and Approval

Our engineering team reviews the customer-supplied design for manufacturability and recommends changes that may improve moldability, consistency, and cost. The customer reviews and approves the DFM before mold construction begins.

Step 3

We Make Your Mold

Our engineering team works closely with our vetted and validated moldmaking partners throughout every stage of construction. We manage the technical details, project schedule, sampling, and revisions to deliver a finished mold that produces parts meeting your approved requirements.

Step 4

Trial Sampling and Revisions

All trial runs and sample rounds required to complete the mold are included in the quoted tooling price. We review the samples, provide them to the customer for evaluation, and manage any necessary mold corrections until the parts meet the approved requirements. Customer-requested part-design changes made after steel has been cut may result in additional cost and lead time.

Step 5

Part Approval and Mold Transfer

Sampling and revisions continue until the molded parts meet the applicable customer specifications and quality requirements. Once the parts are approved by the customer and New England Molding, the mold is transferred to our Concord, New Hampshire facility.

Step 6

Qualification and Production

Our team qualifies the mold, develops documented molding parameters, and submits preproduction samples for final approval. IQ/OQ/PQ validation is available when required. Full production begins after the required samples and documentation have been approved.

Design for Manufacturability Support

New England Molding reviews customer-supplied part designs from an injection-molding and manufacturability perspective. We identify features that may create molding challenges, increase tooling costs, or contribute to quality problems.
Our team provides practical recommendations to improve moldability, repeatability, and production efficiency. When more extensive design assistance is needed, we can connect the customer with qualified product-design and engineering resources.
New England Molding provides recommendations from a manufacturability perspective. The customer retains responsibility for the final part design, specifications, intended use, performance requirements, and approval of all design changes and molded samples.

Tooling and Production Pricing

Along with the mold quotation, New England Molding generally provides estimated per-part production pricing based on the design, material, mold configuration, production volume, and anticipated cycle time available at the time of quotation.
Production pricing may be adjusted if the part design, material, tooling configuration, production requirements, or validated molding cycle changes during development.
